Common Core State Standards
Preparing America's Students for Success in College and Career
In 2012-2013 the Dracut Public Schools along with the Massachusetts Department of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts /Literacy and Mathematics and began working to integrate them into our existing curriculum frameworks. The Common Core State Standards are a set of high-quality academic standards/goals that outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live. Forty-three states, the District of Columbia, four territories, and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) have voluntarily adopted and are moving forward with the Common Core.
Below we provide you with a list of varied resources on the Common Core State Standards initiative. Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment with any specific questions you may have. We can be reached at (978) 957-2617.
